When speaking of Faux Finishing and Fine Art painting, owners Saskia and Michael, have personal knowledge and experience with the authentic. Born and raised in England, Saskia traveled annually to France with her family and, as an adult, lived in Germany and Italy.
Michael has spent nearly ten years in Italy and France.
In each of these countries, particularly France, there exists so many invaluable lessons that can be applied to their business.
One of which is that they have seen the real examples that so many faux finishes copy.
They have touched the real stone, felt the flaking plaster and smelled the painted fresco.
But it goes beyond this.
Europe has an enormous and splendid collection of Fine Art museums that are easily accessible to the public.
Saskia and Michael grew up with this wonderful collection and the art influenced them.
Saskia also grew up with another artistic influence, her father, a Fine Art painter whose work can be viewed at
www.artofdouglasewen.com.
Art surrounded Michael and Saskia growing up and it surrounds them today in their life and work.
Their backgrounds provide them a rich and diverse resource to draw from when discussing Faux Finishing and Fine Art murals.
Together with their daughter, they continue to spend a good amount of every year living in their house in the southwest of France.
Michael and Saskia have over ten years experience with traditional, commercial painting.
The knowledge and experience in this industry is crucial for any faux finisher or muralist.
Knowing the physical foundation that lays under a finish can be critical to the final product.
Despite all of the experience that Whole Art has at its disposal, they still engage in ongoing education in the fields of Faux Artistry and Fine Art painting, fully aware that Art never lays dormant but always changes and grows.
